Music & Mantra: Om Hrim Namah Shivaya

Music & Mantra: Om Hrim Namah Shivaya

It’s mid February in Austin, TX and the first signs of spring are starting to show!  For someone who grew up in frigid Michigan, it seems strange and wonderful that I can wear shorts in February. But the coming of spring is reason to sing, even if you are still wearing your snowmobile suite.

Shiva is the universal divine energy of transformation – destroying what has come to its natural end, and creating space for new growth.  When I think of Shiva I often think of the change of seasons from winter to spring. The old forms are dissolved, and from their essence, new life blossoms!

When we chant the name of Shiva, we welcome the powerful energy of transformation into our lives.  We gain clarity into what no longer serves us, and we gain courage to let go of old habits, beliefs, and relationships that limit our spiritual growth.

This shiva song is a mashup of a few different Shiva mantras I’ve been chanting. One morning they just all melted together into this prayer. I hope you have fun singing this with me.  Consider it part of your spring cleaning 🙂

Om Hrim Namah Shivaya

Om Hrim Namah Shivaya Tas Mai Shri Gurave Namaha
I bow to that Supreme Consciousness (Siva) as the Universal Divine resonance (OM) that vibrates within my heart as hrim (Sakti). To that Consciousness, Who is my beloved teacher, I bow.
